Paul Schwaegler, MD

Paul E. Schwaegler, MD, is a board-certified spine surgeon practicing at Seattle Spine Institute, located in Seattle, Washington. 

A native of Yakima, Dr. Schwaegler did his undergraduate work at Gonzaga University. He completed medical school at Saint Louis Medical Center in Saint Louis, Missouri. He continued his orthopedic and advanced spine training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He has been practicing in Seattle for more than twenty years.

Dr. Schwaegler is committed to providing his patients with the greatest amount of pain relief with the least amount of surgery. He is highly trained in the most innovative techniques. This includes minimally invasive surgical techniques, which speed up patient recovery, as well as motion-sparing techniques, which allow improvement of symptoms without resorting to fusion procedures.

Dr. Schwaegler specializes in the treatment of a variety of orthopaedic conditions and performs several orthopaedic procedures, including minimally invasive surgery (MIS), lumbar disc replacement, oblique lateral interbody fusion (OLIF), anterior interbody fusion, and sacroiliac joint arthrodesis. He also performs procedures to address herniated discs, pinched nerves, and failed fusions.  

To stay up to date with the latest advances in his field, Dr. Schwaegler maintains professional affiliations with the North American Spine Association, Spinal Arthroplasty Society, Society for Lateral Access Surgery, and Puget Sound Spine Interest Group.
