Hoan P. Tran, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon practicing at Seattle Spine Institute, located in Seattle, Washington.
A native of Miami, Dr. Tran did his undergraduate work at University of Miami. He completed medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica. He attended the University of New Mexico for his neurosurgery residency. He then served as an Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico upon graduating in 2009, teaching residents and students before moving to Washington in 2012.
Dr. Tran is driven to provide patients with individualized and dignified neurosurgical care with a holistic and compassionate approach. He is trained in innovative techniques, including minimally invasive surgical techniques, motion-sparing techniques, and medical management alternatives to surgery.
Having authored peer-reviewed articles and patents, Dr. Tran stays current on the latest technologies and treatment algorithms by attending yearly conferences, consulting for Fortune 500 companies, and engaging with other clinicians. Dr. Tran is also a member of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Washington State Medical Association.
Dr. Tran specializes in cervical spine surgery, including total disc arthroplasty, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, posterior decompression and fusion, occipital-atlanto-axial conditions. He treats low back pain and sciatica with anterior lumbar interbody fusion, posterior lumbar interbody fusion, transforaminal interbody fusion, fractures of the spine, and sacroiliac fusion. Dr. Tran also consults and treats patients with brain tumors, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, tether cord syndrome, spinal or cranial nerve stimulation, and failed spinal fusion.
Dr. Tran is committed to treating patients with his “complete approach” method, which covers surgical and non-surgical options to help patients with their symptoms. When not working, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
